Packaging for Delivery

The majority of zinc alloy diecastings other than those that have been given a high finish are delivered packed without any separation in stillages or cardboard boxes. This method is very cost effective and entirely satisfactory if any resulting minor surface dents do not affect critical dimensions. If critical dimensions are likely to be affected the casting design can often be modified to protect the feature and hence save the cost of packaging castings separately.

Components that have been given a high finish need to be transported in such a way as to prevent them knocking against each other or any other hard surface. Methods such as stacking of specially produced vacuum formed trays are fairly common and electroplated castings are often wrapped in tissue paper. The cost of such procedures must be taken into account but are usually justifiable by the resulting reduction in rejects following delivery.
